Carry-on Conversations

consider a shoe
tomorrow's metaphor for
love.  considering
that bribing balloon got you
nowhere
like that chap in a beatle's
song.  sung like a direction
dangling
from the lids to the lashes
from my lips toward yours.  i dreamt
of things linear and
suri phoenix feathers
strewn
upon forget-me-not heathers
i'd lie myself.
with shoes retied and
daybreak dawning,
i rise with
relish once again
returned.

Poems such as this have earned me the endearing nickname, tortured poet.  I wrote this for ENGL 423 while an undergrad at Penn State.  Were it to be cataloged, one could find it in the 811 section.
